Aftofono (noun): a) that which produces its own voice or sound, b) that which can be heard without the use of other means. Aftofono began in 2004 in Athens, Greece as an experimental music project. Since then, it has moved to various cities around the world, releasing three albums: Intellectronica (2009), Wra Bap (2016), and Vihas (2024).
Aftofono explores the boundaries of electronic sound and invites listeners to get lost in the dark, hypnotic, almost symphonic atmospheres it creates. Each album combines natural and synthetic sounds, where technology intersects with traditional music production and emotion.
Over the years, Aftofono has collaborated with many musicians (The Singing Head, Paramorphonic, MentoR, Tengu Ni Naru) video artists (Nohoot, Zonat, Eleni Tsimidou) and dancers (Trigono Ensemble, Nancy Papastamatiou) to create music for video projects and performances. Some of these projects are demonstrated on the portfolio.
